General Program Questions
Christian's Manor uses one application to help staff understand each family’s needs and determine possible program fit.
What support does Christian's Manor offer single mothers in the Rio Grande Valley?
Christian's Manor offers two membership programs: Student Residents, a residential college-focused program, and Pathways, a non-residential support program. Available support can include individualized case management, counseling, education and career guidance, budgeting, parenting support, a food pantry, essential items, and connections to community services.
How do I apply for Christian's Manor programs?
You only need to apply once. The same application is used for all Christian’s Manor programs. Our staff will review your information and contact you about which program may be the best fit.
Does submitting an application guarantee housing or financial assistance?
No. Applying does not guarantee program acceptance, housing, or financial assistance. Support depends on eligibility, availability, and program capacity.
What are wraparound services for single mothers?
Wraparound services support multiple areas of family life. Based on each family’s needs, services may include individualized case management, counseling, education and career guidance, budgeting, parenting support, workshops, food and essential items, and connections to child care, benefits, and community resources.

Does Christian's Manor provide housing for single mothers attending college?
Yes. Student Residents is a supportive residential education program for eligible single mothers who need housing and are enrolled in college or actively applying to college. Housing is limited and is not guaranteed.
Who qualifies for the Student Residents college housing program?
General eligibility includes being at least 18 years old; being a single mother to at least one child with at least 50% custody, or currently pregnant; having a high school diploma or GED; not already having a bachelor’s degree; and being enrolled in college or actively completing the college application process. Applicants must also be able to attend the weekly 12-week, in-person Foundation Course and participate in case management and program expectations.
Do I need to be enrolled in college before applying for housing?
You may apply if you are already enrolled in college or are actively completing the college application process. The focus of Student Residents is helping single mothers work toward earning a college degree.
Is Student Residents emergency housing or general low-income housing?
No. Student Residents is not an emergency shelter or a general public-housing program. It combines affordable family housing with participation in a college-focused support program. Final eligibility and placement are determined through the application and staff-review process.
Can my children live with me in a Christian's Manor apartment?
Student Residents is designed as family housing for eligible single mothers and their children. Family composition, eligibility, available units, and program capacity are reviewed before placement.
What support is available for single moms in college?
Support may include affordable family housing, individualized case management, academic planning and check-ins, individual and family counseling, budgeting and financial education, parenting and family support, food pantry access, essential items, and community resources and referrals.

Answers about non-residential case management and support services for single mothers who do not qualify for Student Residents.
Can Christian's Manor help if I do not qualify for its housing program?
Yes. Pathways gives single mothers access to Christian's Manor support services and resources when they do not meet the Student Residents eligibility requirements. Available services are based on each family’s needs and the staff-review process.
Does the Pathways program provide a Christian's Manor apartment?
No. Pathways does not provide housing at Christian’s Manor. Mothers may still receive other available support and resources based on their family’s needs.
Can I join Pathways if I already have housing?
Yes. Having housing does not prevent a single mother from participating in Pathways. Available support and resources are based on her family’s individual needs.
What support services does Pathways offer single mothers?
Support is tailored to each family and may include individualized case management, education and career guidance, budgeting and financial education, parenting support, individual or family counseling, workshops, community-building opportunities, access to the food pantry and essential items, and referrals to community services that may assist with child care, public benefits, and other family needs.
Do I have to be a college student to receive Pathways support?
No. You do not have to be enrolled in college to participate in Pathways. If you are interested in pursuing a college degree, Christian’s Manor can help you navigate the college application and enrollment process.
